Chris Hurst Rapids Announcing

It is with great enthusiasm that we welcome Chris Hurst as Rapids Rapids Soccer Club’s new Director of Coaching.

After almost 16 years with Rio Rapids SC, Chris Hurst brings a wealth of experience to the Director of Coaching role at Rio Rapids SC, where he will be responsible for some of the following objectives:

  • Lead implementation of Rio Rapids SC Mission through player development pathways
  • Oversee Staff development and management
  • Create a positive culture that builds a mindset growth among the players, coaches and staff and where the values of the organization are clear

We feel confident that Chris is the perfect fit for the position and will help lead Rio Rapids SC in an exciting and positive direction, ensuring quality development of players of all ages and levels within the Club.” said Rio Rapids SC Executive Director, Jason Moran.

“To be given the opportunity to help lead Rio Rapids SC while they continue the fantastic work that they have done throughout Albuquerque and our region is an honor.  I owe so much to Rio Rapids SC, beginning work with them when I was just 21 years old.  The club has continually provided me with opportunities to pursue my passion, and 16 years later, they continue to do so. Soccer in this region continues to grow and thrive.  I look forward to being able to continue this trend, supporting the amazing Directors and coaches at Rio Rapids SC while they continue their excellent work.” said Rio Rapids SC Director of Coaching, Chris Hurst.

We couldn’t be more excited to have Chris take on his new role as Director of Coaching and we eagerly await his leadership at the Club this Spring. Chris is currently transitioning to his new role which becomes effective Jan 1st, 2020. Please join us in congratulating Chris!

Chris grew up in Prudhoe, Northumberland in the north east of England. He moved to New Mexico in 2004 and has been working with Rio Rapids since that time, becoming a full time Director in 2006.

Chris has his B.S. in Sports & Exercise Development from the University of Sunderland in England. Some of Chris’s soccer qualifications include his USSF B License and the National Youth License.
