Rio Rapids Soccer Club is thrilled to announce that Gabby Montoya of the 01 / U19G team has been selected as the Gatorade New Mexico Girl’s Soccer Player of the Year for the 2019-20 season.

Gabby was a key contributor for the Volcano Vista High School team that captured the New Mexico 5A State Championship this past fall and for the Rio Rapids 01G team that has won the New Mexico State Cup in 2019, 2018 and 2017.  She was also named to the 2019 High School Girls All America Team and 2019 High School All-West Region Team by the United Soccer Coaches.

She has signed with the University of New Mexico women’s soccer program and will be majoring in Physical Education.

Gabby is the 14th Rio Rapids SC player to be named Gatorade Girl’s Soccer Player of the Year for New Mexico and the fifth in the last six years (2018-19: Eliza Mariner, 2016-17: Lexi Baca, 2015-16: Jordyn Lacy, 2014-15: Cassie Boren).
