2023 Rio Rapids Alumni Colleges Graphic

Rio Rapids SC is proud to announce that 66 of its alumni (41 women and 25 men) were a part of 49 college soccer programs throughout the country during the Fall of 2023.

Sixteen of these players were a part of teams that earned trips to the national tournament. Thomas Bonnell (ECNL 05/04B) was a part of the Colorado State University-Pueblo team that reached the NCAA Division 2 Final and finished as runner-up. Emily Aguilar (04/03 GA) was a starter for the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs team that reached the NCAA Division 2 Quarterfinals. Two players were a part of teams that advanced to the Sweet Sixteen of the national tournament: Mercedes Mummert (01G) a team captain at Hardin-Simmons University (TX) in NCAA Division 3 and Lorelei Logan (02G) at the University of Memphis (TN) in NCAA Division 1. Brendan Baird (ECNL 04/03B) was a part of the Southern Methodist University (TX) team that reached the NCAA Division 1 3rd Round.

Players on teams advancing to the 2nd round of the national tournament were: Aidan Semelsberger (ECNL 03B) at the University of Denver (CO) in NCAA Division 1, Andrew Monge (02B), Keegan Monnheimer (ECNL 05/04B) and Kaden Schufft (ECNL 04/03B) at Fort Lewis College (CO) in Division 2, Finnegan Saunders (ECNL 05/04B) at Trinity University in NCAA Division 3, Jake Lent-Koop (00/01B) at Messiah University in NCAA Division 3 and Courtney Lohmeier (01G) at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University (AZ) in the NAIA. Other players whose teams earned bids to the national tournament include: Trey Smith (ECNL 05/04B) and Zachariah Pena (02B) at the University of Texas at Dallas in NCAA Division 3, Hunter Davis (00/01B Scorpions) at Wartburg College (IA) in NCAA Division 3 and Mikayla Chase (01G) at Midland University (NE) in the NAIA.

Seventeen players helped their teams win conference championships.

Many of these players received individual honors for their outstanding play. Two players received regional recognition: Merecedes Mummert (01G) at Hardin-Simmons University – United Soccer Coaches All-Region 1st Team / All-American Southwest Conference 1st Team / ASC All-Tournament Team, and Kaden Schufft (ECNL 04/03B) at Fort Lewis College – United Soccer Coaches All-Region 2nd Team / All-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference 1st Team / RMAC All-Tournament Team.

Seven additional players were selected to their all-conference teams: Jake Lent-Koop (00/01B) at Messiah University named All-Middle Atlantic Conference-Commonwealth 1st Team, Mikayla Chase (01G) at Midland University (NE) named All-Great Plains Athletic Conference 1st Team, Hannah Gallegos (00/01G) at the University of Denver named All-Summit League 2nd Team, Emily Aguilar (04/03 GA) at the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs & Amber Otts (05/04 GA) at Fort Lewis College both named All-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference 2nd Team, Nate Slota (02B) at Rhodes University named All-Southern Athletic Association 2nd Team and Sabrina Reyes (02G) at Fort Lewis College named All-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Honorable Mention.

Sophia Roberts (00/01G) at the University of New Mexico and Colette Tena (04/03G) at Adams State University (CO) led their teams in scoring while Emily Aguilar (04/03 GA) was the 2nd leading scorer at the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs

Five players were recognized for their outstanding achievements both in the classroom and on the field. One earned national honors: Merecedes Mummert (01G) at Hardin-Simmons University – CSC Academic All-America 2nd Team & All District, United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-American 3rd Team. Courtney Lohmeier (01G) at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University (AZ) was named a NAIA Daktronics Fall Scholar-Athlete. Keegan Davis (ECNL 04/03B) at Whitworth University (WA) was named to the CSC Academic All-District Team. The following were named to the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference All-Academic Honor Roll: McKenna Ford (01G) and Sabrina Reyes (02G) at Fort Lewis College.
